What Can You Expect From TMS Therapy?

Depression:

OCD:

BEFORE

Our team will speak with you to determine if you are a good candidate for this type of therapy. During the initial TMS conversation, you will be asked questions about your symptoms, your medical history, and treatments you may have already tried.

DURING SESSIONS

During TMS sessions, there are a few things you can expect to occur including:

  • removing any jewelry you have on your person
  • having the TMS device fit securely to your head
  • putting in earplugs to help with the sound of the machine
  • relaxing while the machine is on
  • hearing pulsing from the machine (like an MRI) and feeling a tapping sensation

AFTER SESSIONS

Since TMS is a completely non-invasive therapy, there is no recovery period after TMS sessions. Patients can go back to their daily routine as soon as sessions are over, which means they can drive themselves home or back to work. Side effects are uncommon and generally improve over the course of treatment, but some that are possible may include:

  • minor head irritation
  • headaches
  • scalp discomfort
  • fatigue
