Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy is now available at our clinic. We offer this service with 2 main options depending on your personal circumstances and preferences.

  1. Ketamine sessions with our experienced RPN or RN present to ensure your safety and comfort. Preparatory sessions beforehand and Integration sessions afterwards may be provided by your own therapist or with a therapist that we recommend. Please note that we do not provide ketamine without any associated therapy component. Cost of each Ketamine session is $400.
  2. Ketamine sessions with your own therapist present or with a recommended therapist present. Some individuals prefer to continue with their own therapist. The cost of Ketamine sessions is the same and you are responsible for paying the fee of your therapist. If your therapist is not known to our clinic, then we arrange for a meeting with them first to ensure they are qualified and aligned with our method of providing Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.

Types of Ketamine offered:

  1. Low dose relational ketamine with sublingual lozenges. Low-dose ketamine pairs well with active psychotherapy. Many clients find that the low-dose of ketamine helps to lower defense mechanisms and enhances tolerance to discuss more concerns in a more meaningful manner.
  2. Intramuscular Ketamine. Doses are typically between 0.5 mg/kg and 1 mg/kg. At these higher doses, individuals often will enter into a non-ordinary state and have more of a psychedelic experience. Individuals are less likely to be able to engage in active therapy during the sessions. The advantage of Intramuscular Ketamine is that 93% of the ketamine is available and therefore it is easier to provide more consistent dosing than with intranasal (~45%) or sublingual (~30%) options.
  3. Spravato (Esketamine). This form of ketamine is Health Canada Approved for moderate to severe depression. Ketamine is sprayed into each nostril and absorbed intranasally. The approved schedule is 2 sessions per week for 4 weeks and then individuals may continue with maintenance sessions. The cost of Spravato is expensive but may be covered by insurance companies and the monitoring fee may also be covered by insurance companies. There is no evidence to suggest that this form of ketamine is better or worse than the other options.
